Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Step 2: Mix the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Ensure to scrape down the sides of the bowl as necessary.
Stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 3: Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the whole milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.
