Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Prep the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while you prepare the ingredients.
Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef
Sauté the Onions and Garlic: In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 chopped onion and 2 minced cloves of garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
Brown the Beef: Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet. Season with salt, black pepper, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, and 1 teaspoon of paprika. Cook until the beef is fully browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, which should take about 5-7 minutes. If using, stir in 1 can of diced tomatoes during the last few minutes of cooking.
Step 3: Prepare the Cabbage
Add the Cabbage: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped cabbage with the cooked beef and onion mixture. Toss well to mix.
Step 4: Assemble the Bake
Layer the Ingredients: Transfer the cabbage and beef mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread it evenly.
