Scientists warn of effects of vaping even without nicotine

E-liquids used in electronic cigarettes contain substances such as propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin and various flavorings. These components, when heated, can release toxic compounds such as formaldehyde and acrolein, known for their irritating and inflammatory effects on the respiratory tract.

Effects on the respiratory system

Inhaling e-cigarette aerosols can cause inflammation of the airways, leading to coughing, throat irritation, and difficulty breathing. Studies show that these effects are not limited to prolonged use: even a single vaping session can reduce oxygen saturation and temporarily impair lung function.
