Grandma’s Applesauce Cake

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Prepare to Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan or two round cake pans to prevent the cake from sticking.
Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves until well blended.
Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, combine the 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter, 1 cup of applesauce, 2 large eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (if using). Whisk until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
