Crunchy and Chewy Cookies by Yann Couvreur

Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cream the Butter and Sugars:
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. This process should take about 3-5 minutes.

Add the Egg:
Add the egg to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing well until fully incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and a pinch of salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Incorporate Optional Ingredients:
If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Shape the Cookies:
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between each cookie to allow for spreading.
