Prepare the Patties
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Using your hands or a spoon, mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. Shape the mixture into evenly sized patties, about ½ inch thick.

Brown the Patties
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet, cooking them for about 5 minutes on each side until they are nicely browned and cooked through. This step adds a wonderful depth of flavor to the dish.

Simmer with Soup
Once the patties are browned, carefully pour the French onion soup over them in the skillet. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the patties simmer for 20 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully and keeps the meat moist.
